Four Golfers Named to All-ACC Academic Team
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team had four individuals selected to the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Team, as announced Monday by the league office.
Senior Delfina Acosta, sophomore Dewi Weber and freshmen Renate Grimstad and Filippa Möörk were each chosen for the team.
Acosta, who is majoring in studio art, earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic team for the fourth consecutive season. This past year, the Argentina native competed in all 35 rounds and posted a scoring average of 74.23. In addition, Acosta posted three top-10 finishes, including a career-best third-place finish at the ACC Championship, where she took third.
Weber, who is majoring in communications and advertising and motion picture production, made her second straight appearance on the all-academic team. The Netherlands native posted a team-best six top-10 finishes and placed in the top 15 in nine events this past year. She also won two tournaments, capturing the Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 24-25) and the Betsy Rawls Invitational (Oct. 17-18).
Möörk, who is majoring in business, finished the 2016-17 season by competing in all 35 rounds during her rookie campaign at Miami. In addition, the Sweden native posted a scoring average of 73.86 and three top-10 finishes.
Grimstad, who is majoring in economics, also competed in all 35 rounds for the Hurricanes during her first season at Miami. She closed the year with a scoring average of 74.66 and posted three top-10 finishes, including an eighth-place finish at the 2017 NCAA Regional in New Mexico.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
