@CanesRowing Ready for ACC Championship

CLEMSON, S.C. — The University of Miami rowing team will race against its fellow conference members at the ACC Rowing Championships Sunday.

Five Hurricane boats will compete on Lake Hatrwell in South Carolina. Both heats and finals will be held on Sunday, with the heats beginning with the First Varsity Eight at 8:05 a.m.  The finals start at 5:35 p.m., with the Second Varsity Four. There is no charge for admission.

“ACCs is the culmination of our regular season and the athletes and coaches are excited to get the racing started on Sunday,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “I feel like the team’s final preparations in practice have gone really well and the athletes have done that on top of a busy exam schedule. They have been focused, they have worked hard and now the only thing left to do is line up on Sunday and race.”

Miami’s Varsity Eight will kick off the racing out of Lane 3 in Heat 2 at 8:15 a.m., while the Second Varsity Eight will race out of Lane 2 in the first heat of its event at 8:30 a.m.

The Hurricanes’ First Varsity Four hits the water at 8:55 a.m., racing out of Lane 1 in Heat 1, while the Second Varsity Four races out of Lane 1 in Heat 1 at 9:20 a.m. Miami’s Third Varsity Eight will be the final boat racing in the morning sessions, running out of Lane 1 in Heat 1 at 9:45 a.m.

The top three boats in each heat will advance to the Grand Final in their respective events, while all other boats will move on to the Petite Final.

All the events of the Championship will be streamed live by ACC Network Extra and can be accessed through the Watch ESPN App. Pete Yanity and Steve Pritzger will provide the play-by-play and color analysis for the broadcast.

The Hurricanes will turn their attention to the postseason, with the ACC Rowing Championships coming up on May 13-14. For a complete look at Miami’s schedule, click here.
