CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Quick Hits gives University of Miami volleyball fans an opportunity to get to know the newcomers on the 2016 Hurricanes roster.
The first installment of Quick Hits features Sara Duque, a freshman defensive specialist from Plantation, Fla.

Q&A
Q: What has your time at Miami been like so far?
A: It’s been really fun. I’ve met a lot of new people and everyone is really nice.
Q: What has been your favorite part of being a Hurricane?
A: My favorite part is being able to be on campus and a part of such an amazing program.
Q: Has anyone taken you under their wing, shown you around and helped with your transition to college? If so, who, and how have they helped you adjust?
A: All the older girls have helped me get around campus. They have been very helpful and welcoming.
Q: What has been the biggest adjustment for you since you arrived?
A: I’m pretty local, so there hasn’t been much change, but definitely being on my own has been a big adjustment.
Q: Are there any classes you are taking so far that you like?
A: I’m only taking English this summer and I like it a lot so far.
Q: What are you most excited for about being in college?
A: I can’t wait to start season and be on the road with the rest of the team.

I committed to Miami over other schools because: It’s close to home and I fell in love with the school and the program.
When I think of Miami volleyball, I think of: A great group of girls playing a sport they love.
My favorite part of being a Hurricane student-athlete is: Being a part of a great program and getting to meet new people.
If I had to describe the team in one word it would be: Awesome
Coral Gables is different from my hometown because: It’s pretty much the same. I actually lived in Coral Gables for 12 years when I was younger.
The biggest adjustment from high school to college has been: There is a lot more independence.
When I committed to the University of Miami, I felt: Very happy. It was a big accomplishment in my life.
I love volleyball because: It’s a sport I fell in love with at the age of eight and I’ve met some of my best friends through it.
My favorite moment in my volleyball career was: When we beat our rival school in districts my senior year of high school. We hadn’t beaten them in eight years so it was a pretty big moment for us.
