CLEMSON, S.C. — The University of Miami rowing program heads to South Carolina for the 2016 ACC Rowing Championship.

The Hurricanes will race in the 1V8+, 2V8+, 1V4+ and 2V4+ categories, competing against Boston College, Duke, Louisville, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Virginia and the host Clemson Tigers. This year’s conference regatta marks the 14th time that Clemson has hosted the ACC Rowing Championships on Lake Hartwell.

The ACC Rowing Championships begin on Friday, May 13th at 6 p.m. on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C. with heat one of the Third Varsity Eight and conclude on Saturday, May 14 with the finals, which begin at 8:05 a.m. The Championship Finals will be available live on ESPN3.

“I think we’ve had a good last week of preparation,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “They did a great job of training through final exams and now they are fully focused and have had even better training sessions. I’m excited for them to have the opportunity to race this weekend.”

Miami’s Second Varsity Four will be the first boat in action at the ACC Rowing Championships. The 2V4+ is seeded seventh and will race out of Lane 2 in Heat 2 scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.

The First Varsity Four is seeded eighth and will race at 6:40 p.m. ET, running out of Lane 2 of Heat 1.

Miami’s Second Varsity Eight is next to compete, racing in Lane 2 of Heat 1 of the 2V8+ preliminaries scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The Hurricanes are seeded eighth in the 2V8+ field.

The Varsity Eight will be the final boat on the water, competing in Heat 2 of the preliminaries at 7:30 p.m. ET. Miami’s top varsity boat is seeded seventh and will race out of Lane 2.

The top six boats during Heats will advance to the Grand Final in their respective events, while the remaining boats will compete in the Petite Finals. All finals are schedule for Saturday morning, beginning with the Third Varsity Eight Petite Final at 8:05 a.m. ET.

“They have to put two great rows together, back-to-back, Friday night and Saturday morning,” Sanderson said. “That is something that they are capable of and have been working towards. We are excited for the to be in position to have their best race of the season on Saturday morning.”
