@HurricanesGolf Opens Play in the NCAA Regional Thursday Morning
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team opens play at the NCAA Regional Championship Thursday morning in College Station, Texas.
The tournament, hosted by Texas A&M, will be held at the Traditions Club, a Jack Nicklaus-designed, par-72 course that plays between 6,242 and 6,373 yards.

WHAT’S AT STAKE
The Hurricanes enter this year’s NCAA Regional in the hopes of advancing to the NCAA Championship for the 24th time in program history. Miami’s last appearance in the NCAA Championship was in 1992 where it placed 10th.
THE LINEUP
Daniela Darquea
– Was named All-ACC for the third straight season.
– Holds the ACC’s best scoring average of 71.9 strokes per round.
– Has posted nine rounds of 70-or-less this year.
– Placed eighth at the ACC Championship.
Dewi Weber
– Holds a scoring average of 73.4.
– Has three top 10 finishes this season.
– Her 27 rounds played this season are tied for the team lead.
– Has posted five rounds of 70-or-less this year.
Luiza Altmann
– Holds a scoring average of 75.7.
– Was not on the roster during the fall campaign. Joined the team for the start of the spring and has played in every tournament since the start of the spring campaign.
– Tied for 48th at the ACC Championship.
Delfina Acosta
– Holds a season scoring average of 75.2.
– Has logged a pair of top 15 finishes this season.
– Tied for 27th at the ACC Championship.
– Her 27 rounds played this season are tied for the team lead.
Kailey Walsh
– Holds a season scoring average of 76.3.
– Enters the NCAA Regional after she tied for 45th at the ACC Championship.
– Her best finish of the season came at the Bryan National Collegiate where she tied for 30th.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Miami women’s golf team finished eighth with a three-round total of 899 at the 2016 ACC Championship.
The Hurricanes posted a final day score of 297. The three-day event was held at the par 72, 6,089 Championship Course at the Sedgefield Country Club.
Junior Daniela Darquea was the top finisher for Miami placing eighth. Darquea carded a final round score of even par, 72. Darquea finished the championship with a three-round total of 217.
Junior Delfina Acosta posted a third-round score of one-over-par 73 and closed the tournament with a three-round score of 225 to tie for 27th.
Freshman Dewi Weber and senior Kailey Walsh both posted third-round scores of 76. Weber finished the tournament with a three-round total of 226 and tied for 29th. Walsh concluded the championship with a three-round total of 232 and tied for 45th.

The top six teams of the 18 selected to play in the NCAA Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, held from May 20-25 at Eugene Golf Club in Eugene, Ore.
