@HurricanesGolf Opens Play at the #ACCWGolf Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Miami women’s golf team opened play at the 2016 ACC  Championship on Friday and after one round, the Hurricanes stand in eighth place.

The Hurricanes posted an opening round score of 301 and are four-strokes shy of cracking the top four.

The 54-hole event is being held at the par 72, 6,089 Championship Course at the Sedgefield Country Club. 

Junior Daniela Darquea led the way for the Hurricanes, as she posted a one-under-par score of 71. Darquea is currently tied for fourth and sits just five strokes behind individual tournament leaders Lauren Coughlin (Virginia) and Jennifer Kupcho (Wake Forest), who posted opening rounds of 66.

Junior Delfina Acosta and freshman Dewi Weber are among the top 30, as both are tied for 27th following opening rounds of 76.

Defending champion Virginia leads the field after it posted a team total of five-under-par 283.

Miami begins second round coverage tomorrow at 8:50 a.m. Live coverage of the event will take place on ESPN3 beginning Saturday at 2 p.m.
