Aschebrock Tapped Into ODK Honor Society

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami rower Sarah Aschebrock was tapped into the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society Friday.

Aschebrock was tapped on Friday inside the Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence, becoming the newest member in one of the oldest and most prestigious honor societies at the University of Miami.

All students inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa must rank among the top 35 percent in their class and have completed at least 60 credit hours. All Omicron Delta Kappa members possess the following five ideals: exemplary character, responsible leadership and service in campus life, superior scholarship, genuine fellowship and consecration to the democratic ideal.

A criminology major, Aschebrock is in her final season in what has been a standout career competing for the Hurricanes. She has been a member of the 1V8+ since her freshman year in Miami, helping the Canes win the Cal Cup at the San Diego Crew Classic as a freshman in 2013 and representing Miami at each of the last three ACC Rowing Championships. The North Shore, New Zealand, native is a two-time All-ACC Academic selection and was named a CRCA Scholar Athlete in both 2014 and 2015.

Miami head rowing coach Dave Sanderson believes Aschebrock’s achievements are a result of her drive to be successful at everything she does.

“I think Sarah wants to be great at everything she does, so she puts the time and effort into whatever she does,” Sanderson said. “Just like many individuals involved with UM athletics would conclude about Sarah, she never ceases to amaze whether it’s her school work, training with the team, or being involved heavily with the SAAC.”

Aschebrock and the Hurricanes are back in action next weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic on April 2-3.
