@CanesRowing Ready for Governor's Cup

FELLSMERE, Fla. — The University of Miami rowing program is set to open the spring season on Saturday at the Governor’s Cup.

The Governor’s Cup will be Miami’s first official racing action of the spring on March 19. The Hurricanes will race against Columbia, Florida Tech and Barry University at Canal 54 in Fellsmere, Fla.

“The first race of the spring semester is always exciting,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “The team has been working hard on the water, on the erg and in the weight room in preparation to race and now the moment is here. I’ll be asking our student-athletes to focus on the fundamentals we have worked on and enjoy the opportunity to compete.”

The Canes’ 2V8+ is the next boat in action, facing off against two Columbia boats at 9:30 a.m., and racing against Florida Tech at 11:30 a.m.

In addition to this weekend’s season opener, the Hurricanes will travel to California in early April to compete at the San Diego Crew Classic on April 2-3. Miami will also travel to Mercer County, N.J., to compete in the Knecht Cup on April 9-10.
