Miami Golf Charges Into the Top Five at Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team jumped five spots in the standings during day two competition on Tuesday and is currently tied for fourth place with USF, heading into the final round of play at the 2016 Hurricane Invitational.

Miami finished day-two competition with a one-under-par team score of 283. The Hurricanes’ one-under-par score was the second-lowest score on the day. Miami currently holds a two-day total of 577.

The three-day event is being held at the par 71, 6,080-yard Biltmore Golf Course.

Junior Daniela Darquea led the way for the Hurricanes as she shot a three-under-par score of 68. Darquea currently owns a two-round total of 142 and is tied for 10th. The Quito, Ecuador native posted five birdies on the day, logging one of the front nine and four on the back nine.

Freshman teammate Luiza Altmann also fired under par as she posted a second-round total of 69. She is currently tied for 25th with a two-round total of 145, heading into the final round of play.

The Hurricanes also got solid rounds out of senior Kailey Walsh and freshman Dewi Weber as both carded rounds of 73. Walsh is tied for 27th, while Weber is tied for 35th after two rounds.

Northwestern holds the overall team lead with a two-round score of 16-under-par, 552. NU’s Hannah Kim owns the individual lead with a two-round score of 135.
