Canes Golf Tees Off at Jim West Challenge

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 26-ranked University of Miami women’s golf team returns to action on Sunday at 10 a.m. CST at the 2015 Jim West Challenge in Boerne, Texas. The 54-hole event will be held at the par 72, 6,373-yard Tapatio Spring Golf Resort.

THE LINEUP
Daniela Darquea
-Tied for third at the Dick McGuire Invitational to open the season.
-Closed out the Dick McGuire Invitational with a final round 68.
-Posted a team-best 73.29 scoring average during the 2014-15 campaign.

Delfina Acosta
-Tied for eighth at the Dick McGuire Invitational.
-Posted a second round total of 66 at the Dick McGuire Invitational.
-Owned a 74.74 scoring average in 31 rounds last season.
 
Dewi Weber
-Tied for 18th at the Dick McGuire Invitational. 
-Made her collegiate debut at the Dick McGuire Invitational.
-Played on the 2013 and 2014 European Ladies’ Amateur Championship. 

Kailey Walsh
-Will make her season debut on Sunday.
-Posted a season average of 75.82 during the 2014-15 season.
 
Laura Hendee
-Competed in 11 rounds as a freshman
-Did not play last spring.
 
RECAPPING LAST WEEK
Miami finished eighth at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational to open its 2015-16 campaign. The Hurricanes finished the tournament with a three-round score of seven-over-par, 883.
The two-day event was held at the par 73, 6,315-yard UNM Championship Course.
Juniors Daniela Darquea and Delfina Acosta led the way for the Hurricanes as both posted Top 10 finishes. Darquea finished the tournament tied for third (six-under-par, 213), while Acosta tied for eighth (four-under-par, 215).
