CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team announced that 20 matches will be broadcasted live during the 2015 season.

The Hurricanes will have 20 matches broadcasted across multiple platforms, including 12 home matches on ESPN3.

“It is exciting to have so many of our matches available for our fans to watch all over the world,” Miami head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara said. “With a roster that has players from five different states and four different countries, it is great for our program and our fans to be able to watch Hurricane volleyball no matter where they live.”

Miami’s season opener against Illinois State will be the first match broadcast on ESPN3, beginning at 7 p.m. on Aug. 28. A day later, the Canes will close out the Hurricane Invitational at 7:30 p.m. against Kansas State.

In September, the Hurricanes will have three road matches broadcasted: Sept. 13 at LSU (2 p.m., SEC Network+), Sept. 23 at Florida State (7 p.m., ESPNU) and Sept. 27 at Louisville (12:30 p.m., ESPN3).

Seven of Miami’s nine scheduled matches in the month of October will be broadcasted on ESPN3, beginning with matches against Georgia Tech and Clemson on Oct. 2 and 4, respectively. Miami’s matches at Wake Forest (Oct. 9, 6:30 p.m.), at Duke (Oct. 11, 1 p.m.) and at Virginia Tech (Oct. 30, 7 p.m.), as well as home matches against Boston College (Oct. 23, 7 p.m.) and Syracuse (Oct. 25, 1 p.m.), round out the broadcast schedule in October.

November, the final month of the regular season, will feature eight Hurricane matches broadcasted on ESPN3. All six of Miami’s home matches in November will be broadcasted, beginning with a 7 p.m. match on Nov. 4 against rival Florida State.

The Canes will also host Virginia (Nov. 6, 7 p.m.), Louisville (Nov. 13, 7 p.m.), Notre Dame (Nov. 15, 1 p.m.), Duke (Nov. 20, 7 p.m.) and Wake Forest (Nov. 22, 1 p.m.) as part of the six-match homestand, with all matches being televised on ESPN3. Miami’s final road trop of the 2015 season will also be broadcasted on ESPN3, with the Nov. 25 match at Clemson beginning at 7 p.m. and the regular season finale at Georgia Tech set to begin at 1 p.m.

“The credit goes to our athletic director Blake James and our senior associate AD for communications & sales Jason Layton and his staff,” Gandara said. “They have worked extremely hard and made a commitment to creating high-quality productions to meet ESPN3 standards, not only for volleyball but for all UM sports.”

The Hurricanes (22-9, 14-4 ACC) reached the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, falling to No. 8 Florida in a hard-fought four-set battle. Miami reached the second round for the third time in program history. The Canes, who are 4-7 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, earned their first NCAA Tournament victory since 2011 when they beat UCF in five sets on Dec. 5. The win was also the first NCAA Tournament victory in Gandara’s head coaching career.

Miami brings back five of seven starters from the 2014 team. Preseason All-ACC pick Haley Templeton joins seniors Taylor Scott and Kalysta White, junior Kelsie Groot and sophomore Sakile Simmons as key returners heading into 2015.

Senior Caitilin Donahoe and sophomores Sylvia Hernandez, Michele Marenus and Brooke McDermott also made contributions for the Hurricanes in 2014, while senior Alexis Mourning is back on the court after redshirting in the 2014 season.

Preseason All-ACC selection Olga Strantzali is one of six newcomers joining the Hurricanes in 2015 along with freshmen Lucia Pampana, Anna Haak, Kolby Bird, Codi Lee and Samantha Purnell.

Miami opens the 2015 season on August 28 against Illinois State. The match, which begins at 7 p.m., is the first of three the Hurricanes will play in the season-opening Hurricane Invitational at the James L. Knight Sports Complex on the University of Miami campus.
