@CanesRowing Set for San Diego Crew Classic
SAN DIEGO – The University of Miami rowing program heads to the west coast to compete in the 2015 San Diego Crew Classic.
The Hurricanes will have two boats race on Mission Bay in San Diego on Saturday morning. Miami has its top varsity boat competing in the women’s collegiate varsity division, while the top novice boat will race in the women’s collegiate novice division.
“Our athletes have been working hard and they are looking forward to competing at this prestigious event,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “We stress the importance of small improvements to the team on a daily basis so we are looking for the team to bring an improved skill set to their racing this weekend.”
Miami’s 1V8+ will race in Lane 2 in Heat B of the Women’s Collegiate Varsity division, facing off against Tennessee, San Diego State, University of Portland, UC San Diego and Santa Clara. The Varsity boat is tentatively scheduled to begin racing at 11 a.m. ET.
The Canes’ novice boat is scheduled to race at 2:08 p.m. ET, running out of Lane 5 in a Women’s Collegiate Novice Preliminary that features UCLA, San Diego, Minnesota, Sacramento State, SMU and UC San Diego.
