Hurricanes Open Play at Briar's Creek Invite

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 38 University of Miami women’s golf team opened play at the 2015 Briar’s Creek Invitational on Monday. The two-day event is being held at the par 72, 6,101-yard Golf Club of Briar’s Creek.

The Hurricanes tied for the team lead with Florida after shooting a three-over-par total of 291 in round one.

Second round play was suspended at 7:30 p.m. (ET) with three-to-four holes remaining for each team. At the time play was suspended, Miami sat in third place.

Tournament play will continue tomorrow with an 8:00 a.m. (ET) shotgun start.

Sophomore Daniela Darquea (Quito, Ecuador) paced the Hurricanes with an opening round tally of two-under-par, 70 and was tied for second, heading into the second round.

Senior Rika Park (Fujieda Shi-Shizouka, Japan) also finished in the Top 10 after she shot a first round score of even par, 72. Heading into the second round, Park was tied fourth.

Pairings will be the same as today’s first and second rounds.
