Miami Tied for Fifth at Hurricane Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team is tied for fifth after one round of the Hurricane Invitational. The Canes carded a first round score of seven-over-par, 291. 

The three-day event is being held at the par 71, 6,070 yard Biltmore Golf Course.

Sophomore Delfina Acosta (Nicanor Otamedi, Argentina) and junior Kailey Walsh (Boca Raton, Fla.) led the Hurricanes with rounds of even par, 71 and are both tied for 11th.

Senior Rika Park (Fujieda Shi-Shizouka, Japan), senior Leticia Ras-Anderica (Moraira, Spain) and Daniela Darquea (Quito, Ecuador) rounded out UM’s scorecard with scores of 74, 75 and 76, respectively.

Juniors Laura Hendee (Tampa, Fla.) and Christina Ocampo (Delray Beach, Fla.) scored rounds of 76 and 79, respectively. Both players are in the tournament are competing as individuals.

No. 8 Northwestern leads the tournament at four-under-par. NU’s Hana Lee and Kaitlin Park paced the field with first round scores of 68.

The Canes tee off the second round of the Hurricane Invitational tomorrow morning. Five Canes tee off from hole one starting with Daniela Darquea (8:10 a.m.) followed by Leticia Ras-Anderica (8:18 a.m.), Rika Park (8:26 a.m.), Delfina Acosta (8:34 a.m.) and Kailey Walsh (8:42 a.m.). 

Meanwhile, Laura Hendee (8:58 a.m.) and Chrstina Ocampo (9:06 a.m.) will begin on the back nine.
