@CanesRowing Ready for Head of Indian Creek
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team will compete in the 22nd Annual Head of the Indian Creek.
The Hurricanes will look to build off last Saturday’s scrimmage against crews from UCF and Barry University. Sunday’s Head of the Indian Creek will be the second time Miami competes on its home course in the 2014-15 season. The Head of the Indian Creek is a 4,450 meter (2.7 miles) head race. All boats are started sequentially and will race against the clock.
“We are excited to be able to race on our home course this weekend,” head coach Dave Sanderson said. “It may be familiar water for the athletes, but it will still be a great tune up race for the Charles and the Hooch coming up in the next few weeks.”
The Hurricanes will have two entries in the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta in Boston. Miami has one entry in the Championship four event and one in the Club four event scheduled for October 18-19.
Miami will close out its fall season at the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tenn. A year ago, the Canes earned four Top 10 finishes including two wins, a second place finish and an eighth place finish. They will look to improve on their previous success in this year’s Head of the Hooch, scheduled for November 1-2.
