@CanesRowing Announces 2014 Fall Schedule
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing program will compete in four events in their fall season, head coach Dave Sanderson announced Friday.
The Hurricanes will row in four events this fall, two on their home course and two on the road. Sanderson believes the competitive schedule will help Miami open the 2014-15 season strong.
“Our fall schedule has a good mix of racing at home and away,” Sanderson said. “Which will help to prepare us for the championship spring season.”
Miami will open the fall with a scrimmage against UCF and Barry University on October 4, before returning to their home course eight days later for the Head of the Indian Creek.
The Hurricanes will have two entries in the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta in Boston. Miami has one entry in the Championship four event and one in the Club four event scheduled for October 18-19.
“I am looking forward to our full fall racing schedule, but I am particularly excited that UM Rowing will be racing in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston,” Sanderson said. “The Head of the Charles is always a special event and this year is actually the 50th regatta.”
Miami will close out its fall season at the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tenn. A year ago, the Canes earned four Top 10 finishes including two wins, a second place finish and an eighth place finish. They will look to improve on their previous success in this year’s Head of the Hooch, scheduled for November 1-2.
“We will finish off the fall season at the Head of the Hooch regatta in Tennessee, where we will be able to race various boat classes in both varsity and novice events,” Sanderson said.
