Watch Soccer & Volleyball for Free in 2014
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In recognition of the passionate support from the #RENEWED community of Hurricane Fans, the University of Miami Athletics Department is pleased to offer complimentary admission to soccer and volleyball games throughout the 2014 season.
Both the Hurricane Soccer and Volleyball programs compete on campus. Soccer calls Cobb Stadium home, while Volleyball plays its matches at the James L. Knight Sports Complex. The two teams will combine to host 23 home matches in 2014.
This weekend marks the start of both teams’ home schedules. Soccer is set to host Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. on Friday. The match is the first of nine home matches on @CanesFutbol’s 2014 home slate. Miami will play four home matches from Aug. 29 to Sept. 7, hosting FGCU, Jacksonville (Sept. 2), Stetson (Sept. 5) and FAU (Sept 7).
Soccer will also host ACC opponents Syracuse (Sept. 25), Louisville (Sept. 28), Florida State (Oct. 4), Virginia Tech (Oct. 9) and Wake Forest (Nov. 2). The Wake Forest match will serve as Senior Day, honoring Ashley Flinn, Emily Lillard, Erin McGovern and Maddie Simms for their contributions to the program.
Volleyball will play the first of its three matches in this weekend’s Hurricane Invitational at 7 p.m. on Friday against Seton Hall. The Canes return to the Knight Sports Complex on Saturday for a noon match against Florida A&M and will close out the Hurricane Invitational at 7 p.m. on Saturday against Florida Gulf Coast.
@CanesVB will host the Hurricane Challenge at the Knight Sports Complex on Sept. 19-20, facing UNC Greensboro at 7 p.m. on the 19th and matching up against Missouri at 7 p.m. on the 20th.
The Hurricanes will host nine ACC opponents this season, opening conference play on Sept. 26, when they host Notre Dame. The Canes open October with a two-match homestand, hosting Clemson (Oct. 3) and Florida State (Oct. 5). Two weeks later, they are back at home to host Virginia Tech (Oct. 17) and Georgia Tech (Oct. 19).
On Nov. 7, the Hurricanes will host Louisville for the first time since the Cardinals joined the ACC. Two days later, the Canes welcome Virginia to Coral Gables for a match (Nov. 9). Miami’s final homestand of the 2014 season will feature Syracuse (Nov. 21) and Boston College (Nov. 23). The Canes will honor seniors Blair Fuentez, Savanah Leaf and Emani Sims prior the their match against Syracuse.
