Darquea Named to All-ACC Golf Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami Hurricanes freshman Daniela Darquea was one of 12 golfers named to the 2014 All-ACC Women’s Golf Team, announced Tuesday by the league office. The All-ACC Team was voted on by the league’s 11 head coaches.

Darquea, one of five freshmen of the team, is Miami’s fifth All-ACC selection, joining Tina Miller (2005), Josie Shinn (2005), Maria Ronderos (2011) and teammate Leticia Ras-Anderica (2013).

The Quito, Ecuador, product has started all nine tournaments this season and leads the Hurricanes into this week’s NCAA Central Regional in Oklahoma. Darquea leads Miami with a 73.04 scoring average through 26 rounds and has posted top-25 finishes in seven of nine events.

She posted four straight top-10 finishes, including back-to-back wins at the Hurricane Invitational and SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational, to earn ACC Co-Golfer of the Month honors for March.

Miami will make its 33rd postseason and 21st NCAA appearance in school history this week (May 8-10) at the NCAA Central Regional in Stillwater, Okla. The first round will tee off Thursday.
