Nees Named All-American in 3M on Day Two
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Miami senior Zac Nees hauled in his first All-America honors as a Miami Hurricane at the 2014 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships Friday night, capturing seventh place in the 3-meter at the Lee and Joe Jamail Swimming Center.
Nees, who punched his ticket to NCAA’s with a third-place finish in the 3-meter event at Zone B qualifying, delivered an impressive outing on the second night of competition. The 2011-12 Big Ten Diver of the Year and former Indiana standout, who was a three-time All-American with the Hoosiers, finished preliminaries in seventh place in the 3-meter with a score of 386.20 to earn his spot in the finals.
The 2014 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships continue Sunday for Nees and fellow Hurricane diver Sam Dorman, who finished 3-meter qualfying in 20th place.
Dorman got Miami started on the right foot with an All-America performance in the 1-meter event on Thursday night.
The platform preliminary round is set for noon ET, while finals will take place at 8 p.m. ET.
