Scott Signs with Obradoiro in Spain

Durand Scott, the 2013 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and two-time ACC All-Tournament First Team player, has accepted an offer to play professional basketball for Blusens Monbus Obradoiro in Spain. Scott decided to sign with Obradoiro after receiving offers from teams in both Italy and Germany.

Obradoiro’s general manager had great things to say about Scott’s signing to La Voz de Calicia, a local newspaper. “The main reason that we pursued the signing of Durand Scott is that he complements the perimeter players of Obradoiro. He comes here after being named the best defender in the ACC, and his ability to play the pick-and-roll and play inside provides us with variety.”

Scott scored 1,650 points at The U, the eighth-most in school history, and he holds the record for most minutes, games started and games played. For his career, he averaged 12.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 32.1 minutes in 132 total games played, and connected on 45.1 percent (580-of-1285) of his shots from the field, 33.8 percent (98-of-290) from long range and 77.3 percent (392-of-507) at the line. He earned All-ACC honorable mention two seasons and was on the 2010 ACC All-Rookie Team.
