2013-14 @MiamiWBB ACC Opponents Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will host some of the nation’s top teams during the 2013-14 season.

Six of Miami’s opponents finshed the 2012-13 season in the Top 25 (No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 6 Duke, No. 11 Maryland, No. 19 North Carolina, No. 22 Syracuse and No. 25 Florida State.

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced that the Hurricanes will host Duke, Syracuse, Maryland and rival Florida State at the BankUnited Center as part of an impressive ACC schedule. Dates have not been released at this time.

Miami beat perennial ACC power and then fourth-ranked Duke at the BankUnited Center in 2012-13, its first-ever win against the Blue Devils. It also served as the highest-ranked team UM had ever defeated.

In addition to the games against Duke, Syracuse, Maryland and Florida State, the Canes will also host Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, NC State and Pittsburgh in the 2013-14 season.

The Canes will travel to Florida State, Wake Forest, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Boston College and national champion semifinalist Notre Dame.

This past season, Miami advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive year and reached the 20-win mark for the fourth straight season under head coach Katie Meier. In addtion to its win over No. 4 Duke, the Canes defeated No. 6 Penn State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and saw to players named First Team All-ACC (Morgan Stroman and Stefanie Yderstrom).

Unlike the ACC’s men’s programs, the women will play a 16-game conference games in the first season with 15 members, including newcomers Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Notre Dame.
