Seven Hurricanes Named All-ACC Academic
GREENSBORO, N.C — Seven Hurricanes were among those named to the 2013 All-ACC Academic Swimming & Diving Teams, as announced Monday by Commissioner John Swofford.
Carrie Dragland, My Fridell, Hannah Kling, Lindsay Lester, Kara McCormack and Lucy Worrall, as well as men’s diver Tanner Wilfong, earned recognition for their impressive work outside the lanes and in the classroom.
McCormack (mathematics) and Lester (psychology), both of whom were named All-Americans at the recent 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships in Indianapolis, earned their second consecutive conference academic awards.
Dragland (sport administration), Fridell (public health), Kling (human and social development), Wilfong (business) and Worrall (broadcast journalism) were each recognized for the first time.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
