Canes Rowing Set to Host UConn
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s rowing team hosts their first home regatta of the season this Saturday in a series of heat-to-head races against UConn. The Canes and Huskies will race a two-kilometer course on the Indian Creek waterway in Miami Beach, Fla.
“UConn has brought one of their deepest teams ever to Miami this year and we’ll need to be dialed in in all boat classes on Saturday,” said Miami rowing coach Andrew Carter.
Seniors Katalin Horvath and Katie Stanzilis will begin their final defense of their home course on the Indian Creek. Horvath is finishing up her fourth year competing as a Cane and will be stroking the Varsity 8+. Stanzilis, who fills the seven-seat of the 2nd Varsity 8+, has risen quickly in her rowing career after taking up the sport in her junior year.
