David Case Hired as Head Equipment Manager
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – David Case has been named as the University of Miami’s Head Equipment Manager, as announced Tuesday by Interim Director of Athletics Blake James.
Case comes to Coral Gables from Boca Raton, where he had served as the Director of Equipment Operations at Florida Atlantic University since March 2011. At FAU, Case oversaw and maintained equipment, apparel and field preparations for all 19 Division I varsity sports.
“We are excited to have David Case join in the University of Miami family,” Miami Deputy AD Tony Hernandez said. “David will manage the equipment operations with a great deal of motivation and hard work. He comes to ‘The U’ with a wide array of collegiate and professional sports experience.”
Prior to Florida Atlantic, he was the Assistant Equipment Manager for nearly four years (June 2007-March 2011) at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. While at Baylor, he supervised the student managers, prepared all fields for practice and games, assisted in all football camps and coordinated visiting locker room operations for all opponents.
His start in college athletics came as a student equipment manager at NC State, where he spent four seasons working with Wolfpack football. He was the head student equipment manager during the 2002-03 season. He graduated from NC State in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication.
Case has also spent in time as an assistant equipment manager for the Carolina Cobras (2000-02), visiting clubhouse manager for the Carolina Mudcats (2003-04) of the Class A Carolina League and the Mississippi Braves (2005-06) of the Double-A Southern League and was an equipment manager intern at UCF (August 2006-June 2007).
He and his wife Erin have one daughter, Hayley.
