First-Place Volleyball Returns to Top 25

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Miamivolleyball team re-entered the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)Top 25 this week at No. 24, the organization announced Monday. The Canes havenow appeared in the national poll four times this season.

Miami(23-4, 15-2), who has won 13 of the last 14, is tied atop the Atlantic CoastConference standings with Florida State with three regular season matchesremaining. It is the best ACC start in program history.

Mostrecently, the Canes took down both Wake Forest and Duke last weekend to improveto 8-4 on the road. Against the Blue Devils, Miami overcame two match points inthe fifth set to pull out the win.

UMfirst entered the polls this year at No. 24 on Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, beforemoving up to No. 23 on Oct. 29. This is the 14th time in schoolhistory that the Canes have been ranked going back to 2002, holding an all-time16-5 record in matches when playing as a ranked team.

TheHurricanes join No. 11 Florida State and No. 25 North Carolina as ranked ACCteams.

TheCanes, also No. 21 in the NCAA RPI, will return home this weekend to faceBoston College and Maryland at the Knight Sports Complex. The Hurricanesdefeated both opponents on the road earlier this season.
