Pezzulo Named ACC Performer of the Week
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Sean Pezzulo of the Universityof Miami cross country team has been named the Atlantic Coast ConferencePerformer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. In the first meetof the season, he finished fourth overall in the 8K race (26:58.23) to helplead UM to fourth place at the USF Invitational.
Prior toPezzulo, Connor Adams was the last Hurricane to win this honor on Oct. 25,2010.
“It isgreat accomplishment to have Sean as Performer of the Week,” assistant crosscountry coach Damon Griffiths said. “He has worked very hard this summer and Ilook forward to more great things from him.”
A nativeof Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Pezzulo’s career-best time came last season at theACC Championships (26:28.7).
The UMcross country teams will next run at the Mountain Dew Invitational at theUniversity of Florida on Saturday, Sept. 15. A total of 22 teams are set tocompete in the meet.
