515 Runners Compete at Greentree Invitational
MIAMI – Five hundred fifteen runnersover six races competed at the Greentree Invitational hosted by the Universityof Miami cross country program on Saturday at Indian Hammocks Park in Miami.The event included both collegiate and high school races.
“I thinkit was a great turnout today, we had some of the best talent in South Floridarun this morning,” assistant cross country coach Damon Griffiths said. “It is abeautiful course here and it ran fairly fast for everyone. The meet was verycompetitive and we hope to make it bigger and better next season.”
SophomoreDouglas Dourado took home first place in the men’s collegiate race with a timeof 17:58.08 in the 5K. Classmate Sara Ryan was the top UM finisher in the women’s5K with a time of 24:32.82.
Followingthe collegiate races, high school varsity and junior varsity squads competed onthe course.
The UMcross country teams will next run at the Mountain Dew Invitational at the Universityof Florida on Saturday, Sept. 15.
