CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 1998-99 University of Miami women’sbasketball schedule features 10 games against teams that played duringthe 1997-98 postseason, including a Feb. 6 match-up with defendingBIGEAST champion Connecticut at the Miami Arena.

The Hurricanes schedule consists of 14 home games, including theUM/UConn game at the Miami Arena, and 12 road games.

Miami opens up the schedule with three straight non-conferenceroad games against 1998 NCAA Tournament qualifiers: FloridaInternational (11/18), Tulane (11/22) and Florida (11/24). FIUandTulane both claimed their respective conference championships, whileUFadvanced to the Sweet 16.

The remaining non-conference games against Coppin State (12/1),Hampton (12/12), Florida Atlantic (12/16), Oklahoma (12/19) and WesternKentucky (1/7) will take place at the Knight Sports Complex on theUMcampus. Western Kentucky received a No. 8 seed at last year’sNCAATournament and advanced to the second round before losing to eventualNational Champion Tennessee.

The Hurricanes open their BIG EAST schedule in December asBoston College, which finished with 17 wins in 1997-98, comes to theKnight Sports Complex on Dec. 5, followed by Syracuse on Dec. 8.

Highlighting the Hurricanes home BIG EAST schedule are 1998 NCAASweet Sixteen qualifiers Connecticut and Rutgers. UConn and Miamiwillmeet in the Gatorade Shoot Out at the Miami Arena on Feb. 6, whileRutgers ventures into the Knight Sports Complex on Feb. 10.

UM will have BIG EAST road games with postseason teams NotreDame and Villanova, plus Seton Hall.  The Fighting Irish alsoadvancedto the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, while the Wildcats played in the women’sNIT.
