ATHENS, Ga. – University of Miami diving All-American Jenny Keimwas named the 1999 Women’s Diver of the Year Saturday after strong performancesat the 1999 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship at the GabrielsenNatatourium in Athens, GA.
The four-time All-American battled from eighth place in the preliminaryround of the women’s 3-meter springboard, to defeat Texas’ Laura Wilkinson(567.55), to claim the 3-meter title with 576.90 points. The sophomorealso placed second in the women’s platform diving (635.10) behind Wilkinson(664.75), and third in the women’s 1-meter springboard (435.60) behindSouthern Methodist’s Jenny Lingamfelter (444.40) and Nevada’s Lang Rao(439.05).
Keim is the first Hurricane female diver to win a national divingtitle since 1989 when All-American Wendy Williams won the 10-meter divingtitle.
