CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Interim Head Swimming CoachJamesSweeney announced the signing of Elaine Schwartz today.

Schwartz, fromThe Peddie School in Mt. Laurel, NJ, will join the UM swimming teamforthe 1999-2000 swimming season.

“I am extremely pleasedto have Elaine join the women’s swimmingteam,” said Sweeney. “Our program is growing and she will definitelyhelp our team become one of the top ten in the country. Elaineis atalented swimmer who brings with her a great dedication to the sportandwill have an immediate impact for our ladies squad, both athleticallyand academically,” added Sweeney.”

Schwartz, a nationally top-ratedsenior, set a Peddie Schoolrecord in the 200-IM with a time of 2:02.2. Other best timesinclude2:02.8 in the 200-butterfly and 4:20.9 in the 400-IM.
