Breanna Hayton and Kata Horvath Named All-ACC

June 8, 2012

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Breanna Hayton and junior Kata Horvath of the University of Miami were each named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Rowing team, the conference office announced. The two join ACC Freshman of the Year Hannah Hawks on the league postseason award list.

“Breanna and Kata have had a terrific year and they’ve both shown excellent leadership on a young team that has worked incredibly hard over the past eight months,” said head coach Andrew Carter. “There’s no doubt that there are many women on our squad who’ve put forward an All-ACC effort this year and I know it’s going to continue to yield really positive results for UM. Breanna and Kata are great representatives of those teammates and they’re very deserving of the recognition.”

Hayton, a native of Victoria, British Columbia, helped spark the 1V crew from the stroke-seat, while Horvath, originally from Hungary, held down the seven-seat position. This is the second All-ACC nod for Horvath, having picked up the honor as a sophomore as well.

Hawks took home the ACC Freshman of the Year in April after her performance at the ACC Championships in Clemson, S.C.

“Hannah has been a fantastic team member this year and I think she’s an excellent representative of her freshman classmates,” said Carter. “She parked herself in our top crew and never once showed any intention of losing that spot.”
