CORAL GABLES, Fla. –  Hurricane Sports Properties (HSP) today announced that 560 WQAM -AM, a Beasley Broadcast station in Miami, will remain the University of Miami’s radio flagship partner for the next five years.

WQAM has been UM Athletics’ flagship since the 1999-2000 season and the extension allows the sports radio station to provide exclusive coverage through the 2016-17 athletic season. The agreement calls for WQAM to broadcast all football and men’s basketball games, as well as certain baseball games and weekly coaches’ shows with Joe Zagacki.

“We are thrilled about the new agreement and long-term partnership between HSP and WQAM,” said Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst. “Listening to WQAM for the Miami Hurricanes has become a game day tradition in South Florida and this relationship will bolster our brand and reach on the airwaves.”

“UM sports have been a huge part of WQAM for over a decade and we’re excited to continue that relationship,” said Joe Bell, Vice President & Market Manager for Beasley Broadcast Miami. “Our listeners have come to expect the best from WQAM and it doesn’t get any better than Hurricane sports.”

HSP is the exclusive multimedia rights holder for UM Athletics and operates as a joint venture of Learfield Sports and IMG College. According to HSP General Manager Jim McIver, “We’re pleased to lock up WQAM for another five years as the station has delivered quality broadcasts and programming for Hurricane fans since 1999.”
