Distance Medley Relay Team Sets School Record

Final Results

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—The University of Miami track and field team completed competition at the prestigious Florida Relays Saturday evening at the Percy Beard Track on the University of Florida campus. The Canes set a new school record and had four top-10 finishes on the final day. 

The men’s distance medley relay team etched their names in UM history. Connor Adams, Evan Hadrick, Austin Rector and Greg Kaczka crossed the line in 10:05.69 to finish seventh in the event and a school-record time.

Senior thrower Ashley Holmes continued her success from the previous day, finishing third in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 14.69 meters (48-02.50). Holmes kicked off the day with a 51.21 meter (168-00) hammer throw good for 10th place.

“The team competed hard this weekend,” said Director of Track and Field and Head Coach Amy Deem. “Overall we had some really good efforts and it is easy to see that we are getting better each week.”

The women’s 4×100 meter relay team of Jokira Jiles, Tarika Williams, Nicole Cummings and Jasmyne King finished 10 in a time of 45.32 to round out the Canes’ top finishers of Day two.

The Canes return home to Coral Gables to host the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Saturday, April 14 at Cobb Stadium. Field events will begin at 11 a.m. with the women’s javelin throw and on the track at 4 p.m. with the women’s 4×100 meter relay.
