Miami to Face Georgia Tech at 9 p.m. Thursday in ACC Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team has been dealt the No. 6 seed and will face No. 11-seed Georgia Tech in the first round of the 59th Annual ACC Tournament held at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., March 8-11.

The Hurricanes ended the regular season 18-11 overall and 9-7 in the ACC under first-year head coach Jim Larranaga. Miami finished fourth in the ACC, the best finish since landing fifth in the league in 2007-08, but were dealt the sixth seed due to tie-breakers with NC State and Virginia. The Canes also posted its most wins (9) in ACC play, the most since joining the ACC.
With a win in the First Round, Miami would face No. 3-seed Florida State at 9 p.m. on Friday, March 9.
Junior guard Durand Scott led the team with 13.0 points per game and junior Reggie Johnson averaged 7.0 rebounds per game, the most on the squad. Junior Kenny Kadji averaged 12.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, both second-most on the team.
