Game Notes – Miami vs. Virginia Tech
The Game
Riding a four-game winning streak, Miami will face off against Virginia Tech on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. in Coral Gables. The Canes enter the game following an upset victory over No. 7/5 Duke on Feb. 5, UM’s first win at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Series
The series between Miami and Virginia Tech is tied at 10 apiece. The Canes have defeated the Hokies in two of the last three meetings, but lost the last outing, 72-68, on Jan. 30, 2011 in Blacksburg. VT took the first-ever meeting on Jan. 10, 2001, but Miami went on to win the next six-straight matchups.
The Broadcasts
Catch the game on ESPN2 and ESPN3 with Mike Patrick and Len Elmore making the call and Jeannine Edwards on the sideline. The game will also be carried live by 560 WQAM Radio with Joe Zagacki (play-by-play) and Josh Darrow (analyst), 90.5 WVUM, 106.3 CIMA FM and Sirius 92.
The Coach
Head coach Jim Larranaga is in his 28th season as a head coach and first at Miami. He has a 483-341 overall record and holds a 456-315 record in D-I games. Coach L was also the head coach of D-II American International (27-26) for two years.
