Canes Volleyball Back in AVCA Top 25 Poll

Lexington, Ky. – The University of Miami volleyball team is back in the rankings after a three-week hiatus, entering at No. 22 this week in the AVCA Coaches Poll Top 25 released Monday afternoon by the AVCA home office in Lexington, Ky.

Under the direction of head coach Nicole Lantagne Welch, the Hurricanes are back in the rankings this week after rolling off eight consecutive wins dating back to a road victory against Boston College on Oct. 21. Over the weekend, UMiami defeated Duke (W, 3-0) and Wake Forest (W, 3-1), respectively, on the road for its fourth consecutive away wins.

Also over the weekend, Hurricanes redshirt senior setter Katie Gallagher became the school’s all-time leader in assists with 4,962, surpassing Jill Robinson (2003-06) on the all-time list. Senior All-America outside hitter Lane Carico is already the school’s all-time leader in kills (1,670).

Miami gets back to action again this weekend traveling to Georgia Tech on Friday, Nov. 18 in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets are the last team to have beaten the Hurricanes back on Oct. 16 in Coral Gables, Fla.
