Katalin Horvath | Rowing | Junior | Gyor, Hungary

The U…I love the school spirit. I love everyone dressing up in orange and green and knowing all the fighting songs and Sebastian. I just love the spirit we don’t have that back home.I really love Sebastian.

Rowing has given me…the strength to be more individual. To get through stuff on my own.

I row because…I like it.

My hometown is…where I lived my entire life and I’m really attached to it.

I secretly wish…that a day would be more than 24 hours.

I’m afraid…of spiders.

Coach Carter is…the definition of what Canadian means to me.

The morning bus ride to practice is…an extra half hour of sleep.

The University of Miami…has a beautiful campus.

I admire…Ekaterina Kartsen. She won more than, I believe five or six world championship titles and two Olympic medals. And she’s a mother and 39 years old and still going.

Giving back…is important. I like doing activities with kids. I like when we bring them in and we play games.

My hidden talent is…nothing can wake me up when I sleep.

My guilty pleasure is…classical music. I love Beethoven.

My mom and dad…are very influential in my life.

My favorite song right now is…“Good Life,” by One Republic.

The best advice I ever received was…just be yourself.

When I look at myself in the mirror, I see…that my hair grew a lot since freshman year.

I was raised…to be a maximalist.

Every year I look forward to…meeting new people.

If I weren’t rowing, I would…be playing volleyball.

When I was younger…I loved to swim.

I aspire to…be healthy.

There’s no better feeling than…accomplishing your goals.

My new coaches…are nice.

When I’m on the water…I focus on rowing, but I’m also looking out for dolphins.

The biggest risk I ever took….coming to Miami no knowing anyone.
