Canes Hold First Practice of 2011-12 Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team held its first practice of the 2011-12 season Monday afternoon at the team’s practice facility inside UM’s Field House adjacent to the BankUnited Center. Head coach Katie Meier and her Hurricanes opened their season with expectations that the program has not yet seen in her tenure. So far, Slam Magazine, Athlon Sports and The Sporting News each have Miami among the Top 10 teams in the nation, with Slam choosing the Canes as the NCAA’s fourth-best team heading into the season. Coach Meier, Shawnice Wilson, Riquna Williams and Morgan Stroman each took time to talk to local media about the upcoming season and the expectations that have been placed upon their team. |
