Fans Turn Out in Droves for Annual BankUnited CanesFest
Aug. 29, 2011
The BankUnited Center and fieldhouse shook as more than 4,000 Hurricane fans took BankUnited CanesFest by storm on Saturday, August 27. Fifteen of the 17 Miami Hurricane varsity sports attended, giving fans a unique experience to interact with student-athletes. Fans practiced their golf swing, raced track, pitched fastballs, shot hoops and worked on their backhand on an indoor tennis court with student-athletes.
The Miami Hurricanes cheer squads and Sebastian the Ibis met and greeted fans and posed for photos throughout the day. Perks to being a Miami Hurricanes Football Season Ticket Holder include the entire team hosting an autograph session where thousands walked away with signed posters, hats, footballs and more. As the day ended, the 2011 football senior class received recognition for their accomplishments and Head Coaches Al Golden, Jim Larranaga, Katie Meier and Jim Morris held a question and answer session.
Due to scheduling conflicts, both the Miami Hurricanes’ soccer and volleyball programs were unable to attend, but competed and won their respective matches.
