INDIANAPOLIS – University of Miami junior diver Carrie Dragland has been selected to the final USA roster for the upcoming Summer World University Games taking place August 11-23 in Shenzhen, China. The games are being housed at The Universiade Center Aquatic Center and Open Waters (Seven Star Bay).

Dragland (Woodinville, Wash.) will be representing the Hurricanes on a roster that includes 12 divers from across the nation – spanning nine universities in total. Ohio State, Indiana and Florida State each have two individuals competing.

“This opportunity is really exciting for me,” said Dragland. “This is my first international competition, and it’s really good to have this experience and get out there and compete outside the U.S. against international competition. I’ve learned a lot this past year at UM. So, this is nice to show that it’s paying off.”

In the Summer World University Games, Dragland will compete in the platform and synchronized 3-meter springboard.

At the 2011 NCAA Championships, Dragland earned three All-America honors with top eight performances on the 1- and 3-meter boards, in addition to the 10-meter platform. In the process, she became the first female in UMiami history since Jenny Keim (2000) to claim All-America awards in all three diving events.
