GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Miami women’s golf team is in Greensboro this week for the annual ACC Championship held at Sedgefield Country Club.
Throughout the trip, junior Patricia Arana (Barcelona, Spain/Blume) will be keeping you up-to-date with the team’s adventures on and off the course in her journal for HurricaneSports.com.
Wednesday, April 13: Travel day
We left school at 12:30 and we got to the Super Hotel Resort in Greensboro at 9:00. Ready to get some sleep leaving behind an excellent diner at Carrabas. Coach Rizzo was nice tonight, she ordered appetizers. Night time. Hasta Manana…
Thursday, April 14: Practice Round
Tee off at 9:00 EST. Hit some balls first. Jennifer’s [Hirano] wrist looks good. [Coach] John [Koskinen] is taking pictures. The team is focused. We got some gifts; nice yardbooks and pin sheets for all of us. No excuse to not prepare adequately. Just finished our front nine in the practice round. [Sedgefield] is a long course but there is nothing a Cane can’t do. Just got done with the practice round. Definitely a long course, pretty hilly and dry. The greens are really fast. Now we are gonna go hit some balls and putt some followed by a very well deserved lunch…
Friday, April 15: Day 1
After a terrible night being sick, it wasn’t that bad of day. I kicked Christina [Hirano] in the face twice. Apparently I had a convo with myself while I was asleep and so Chris[tina] and Jenn keep embarrassing me in front of everybody. Tee times from 8:20 to 9:10. Good round today. 302. It’s a long course for us. We went to dinner at a nice seafood restaurant with our host and had a blast. Coaches are proud of us so we feel satisfied and ready to improve. The predictions for tomorrow aren’t good weather wise so they changed tee times to shotgun at 8:30. We’ll see how it goes…
