Women's Golf Set to Host Canes & Cardinal Classic

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team will host its second tournament of the spring season as the Hurricanes and University of Louisville will combine to host the Canes & Cardinal Classic Mon., Apr. 5 and Tues., Apr. 6, at Don Shula’s Golf Resort in Miami Lakes.

A total of 10 teams including two teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 100 are slated to compete as Akron, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Kansas State, Maryland, Penn State, Florida Gulf Coast, Texas Pan American and Troy join Miami in the two-day tournament.

Competition will begin on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start which will include the first two rounds of the tournament. The final shotgun start on Tuesday will be at 8 a.m. start.

The Hurricanes will be led by junior Maria Ronderos who has a 76.14 stroke average heading into the tournament. Sophomore Jennifer Hirano, who leads the team with a 75.77 stroke average, will not take part in the Canes & Cardinal Classic. Freshman Shelby Gilbert, junior Christina Hirano, sophomore Begona Sarabia and freshman Melanie Kleiner round out Miami’s five.
