Miami Back in Rankings After Big Performances

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami women’s track and field team earned its first national ranking of the season in the fourth U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA) poll of the year on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes are led by Ti’erra Brown, Deandra Doyley and Ashley Dukes. Both Brown and Doyley are nationally ranked in two events. Brown is No. 5 in the 60m hurdles and No. 13 in the 400m dash. Doyley garners a No. 11 ranking in the long jump and is 28th in the triple jump.

Brown recently won the 60m hurdles at the illustrious Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., with a time of 8.19 seconds – her second win of the season.

Doyley has won three of the four long jump competitions she has entered this season, with her season-best effort of 6.30m (20-08.00) coming this past weekend at the Tyson Invite.

Dukes has recorded the ninth-fastest time in the nation in the 60m dash at 7.33 seconds.

As a team, the `Canes finished the 2009 indoor year with a season-best ranking of No. 12.

Miami is currently in preparation for the ACC Indoor Championships, which runs from Feb. 25-27 at Virginia Tech’s Rector Fieldhouse.
