Cassie Loessberg named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Senior volleyball player Cassie Loessberg has been named this week’s Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 6.

Loessberg, a libero/defensive specialist from Sacramento, Calif., established a new school-record for digs in a three-set match (30) over the weekend against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 4, helping Miami to a 3-0 win in the process at the Hampton Inn & Suites Northern Colorado Tournament in Greeley, Colo. Loessberg was the defensive anchor for the ‘Canes a day later, pulling in 39 digs in a 3-2 victory over North Dakota State on Sept. 5. As a team, UM posted a new team school-record for digs (113) in that same match.

Loessberg was one of three Hurricanes named to the All-Tournament Team as Miami grabbed three wins enroute to the tournament title. She is currently second all-time at UM in digs and needs just 72 more to move into first place.
