Ronderos Leads Hurricanes in 2009 Season Opener on Day One

2009 Duramed Cougar Classic Day 1
HARAHAN, S.C. – Junior Maria Ronderos shot five-over par in two rounds to lead the University of Miami women’s golf team in its season opener at the Duramed Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Sunday.
Georgia leads after the first two rounds after shooting 13-under par 563. Florida State (575) and Furman (575) are tied for second followed by North Carolina (578) and Vanderbilt (579) to round out the top five. Miami is 16th going into the final day.
Ronderos bounced back in her second round firing one-over par 73 to pace the Hurricanes. She shot four-over par 76 in her opening round and is tied for 39th place.
Sophomore Jennifer Hirano and junior Christina Hirano each shot two-over par 74 in round two. They both shot four-over par 76 in their opening rounds and are tied for 45th.
Freshmen Jaime Ritter and Melanie Kleiner rounded out Miami’s five. Ritter shot 10-over par 82 in the first and second rounds while Kleiner shot an 85 and 88 in her opening rounds.
Play at the Duramed Cougar Classic will resume Monday with the final round scheduled to tee off at 8:45 a.m.
