Ross Takes 3-meter Title at Georgia Tech Invite

Atlanta, Ga. – Junior diver Reuben Ross took first place in the men’s 3-meter springboard event on Saturday by posting a score of 433.00 in the finals of Saturday’s action of the 2008 Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. This is Ross’ first 3-meter invitational title of the year in just his second competition of the year.
Ross, the reigning 3-meter diving national champion on the men’s side, finished more than 50 points ahead of second place opponent, Aaron Fleshner of Alabama who posted a score of 380.20. Ross scored a total of 445.40 in the preliminary round where he outscored the field by more than 50 points as well. Fleshner was third after the prelims, while Auburn’s Kelly Marx was in second (393.40) after the first wave of diving.
In second place of the finals was Fleshner, followed by Marx with a 370.90 score in third, and rounding out the top four was Terry Horner (Florida State) with a 363.45 total mark.
The event, hosted by Georgia Tech is taking place at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center. The weekend’s action concludes tomorrow with the platform event for men, followed by the 3-meter event for women.
