Miami Rowing Set to Co-Host Tri-Meet Regatta

Coral Gables, Fla. – The Hurricanes rowing team from the University of Miami will co-host along with Barry University in a tri-meet regatta with UM, Barry and Nova Southeastern on Saturday, Nov. 1 as the first home regatta of the year at the Shane Watersports Center on the shores of Indian Creek in North Miami Beach, Fla. The event, free to the public, begins at 8 a.m.

“Our team is happy that we are going to be able to race at home this weekend,” stated head coach Robbie Tenenbaum. “Barry and Nova Southeastern are solid programs and are very well coached.”

The Hurricanes last set to the waters in a home event back on Mar. 15 when they hosted Nova Southeastern. This season, UM is set to host just two regattas at home, the second coming in Mar against Connecticut.

This marks the second event of the year for Barry who last competed in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts on Oct. 18-19. As for Nova Southeastern, this is their second event as well after competing in Jacksonville back on Oct. 11.

UM hasn’t raced since taking part in the Head of the Oklahoma Regatta in Oklahoma City back on Oct. 4-5. The `Canes enjoyed a weekend of great racing, and even partook in one of the country’s best events–racing under the lights.

“The races this weekend will serve primarily as a scrimmage,” continued Tenenbaum. “Thus, allowing everyone on our squad to race. The team has been making great progress this fall, and this will be our final tune up before our last race of the fall season on Nov. 16 in Charlottesville, Virginia.”
