Cross Country to Travel to Final Regular Season Event

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami cross country teams will travel to Boone, N.C. in their final regular season race, the Covered Bridge Open, this Friday, Oct. 17, hosted by Appalachian State University. The women’s race will start at 3 p.m. with the men following at 3:45.

The men will feature six seniors along with freshman Michael Viklund. The seniors include Ryan Woodlee, Eric Miller, Vince Giambanco, Andrew Chuplis, Tim Harris and Jules Rosen.

Woodlee has been the top-finisher for the Hurricanes in all races that he has competed, claiming the individual title at the UCF Invitational on Sept. 13.

The women’s team will be much younger as Ena Leufoy will be the lone senior in the event. She will be joined by sophomores Emma Steppe, Katharine Woodard, Caitlin Knapp and Kalea Aguon. The two freshmen making the trip will be Page Price and Anna Bona.

A total of 34 schools are scheduled to appear in the meet, including North Carolina, Duke, NC State and Clemson of the ACC.

On Saturday, Nov. 1 the teams will return to the Tar Heel state for the ACC Championships, which will be hosted by North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
