United States 4x100 Relay Team Disqualified in Beijing Semifinal

BEIJING, China – – Former University of Miami track star Lauryn Williams and the rest of the 4×100 relay team have been disqualified in the semifinal round due to a dropped baton during a handoff between Tori Edwards and Williams.

Edwards, L. Williams, Mechelle Lewis and Angela Williams were expected to be in the running for the gold in one of the United States historically strong events, but for the second straight Olympics a dropped baton has prevented the U.S. from earning a medal.
