Takecia Jameson Runs to Junior World Championship

BYDGOSZCZPolandUniversity of Miami freshman Takecia Jameson won the 400-meter hurdles at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland, with a new 2008 world-best time of 56.29.

 

Jameson beat out competitors from seven different countries in the finals to win the gold medal.  The Upper Marlboro, Md. native is the first UM student-athlete to win a Junior World Championship since Lauryn Williams won gold in 2002 in the 100-meter dash.

 

In her first year as a Hurricane, Jameson stood out, earning All-American honors with a third place finish at the NCAA National Championships in June.
